The California Department of Education invites you to attend the 2025 Interim and Formative Assessment Training Series. Registration for fall sessions is now available!
Note: if you were registered for summer sessions but want to attend session again, you can use your confirmation number to update your existing registration and add fall sessions.
These free training opportunities consist of facilitated online professional learning focused on the interim and formative components of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC).
All sessions are designed for teachers, instructional coaches, and educators on special assignment, but local educational agency (LEA) test coordinators and administrators may also find this training series useful to further support educators.
Interim and Formative Assessment Webinars
There are three independent webinars focused on using the interim and formative components of the CAASPP and ELPAC assessment systems to inform teaching and learning.
New for 2025!—The Educator Panel and Shared Practices webinar will feature California educators providing insights for using the CAASPP and ELPAC interim assessments and Tools for Teachers to support teaching and learning as well as insights for consideration in promoting these resources locally.

Interim Assessment Hand Scoring Workshops
There are five virtual hand scoring workshops, each designed to introduce you to and build your confidence in the hand scoring process for CAASPP and ELPAC interim assessments. Each independent workshop focuses on a specific content area. Participants will collaborate with colleagues to analyze and score student work; use the tools and resources that support hand scoring; explore scoring considerations; and share strategies and insights with one another.
Note that the hand scoring workshops will not be recorded or posted as they contain discussion of secure materials. If you are not able to attend a live hand scoring workshop, you can explore the On-Demand Hand Scoring Learning Modules.
