CAASPP and ELPAC: Complete Interim Assessment Hand Scoring
Email Update, June 13, 2024
Dear LEA CAASPP Coordinator or LEA ELPAC Coordinator:
The 2023–24 CAASPP and ELPAC Interim Assessments will remain available until August 2, 2024. State-offered interim assessments are available for Smarter Balanced English-language arts/literacy and mathematics, the California Science Test (CAST), and ELPAC. During the system downtime that begins on August 2, student responses for the interim assessments will be cleared from the Teacher Hand Scoring System (THSS) and will no longer be available for hand scoring.
To ensure that student results from all completed 2023–24 interim assessments appear in the California Educator Reporting System (CERS), all outstanding hand scoring must be completed in the THSS prior to the system downtime on August 2, 2024, at 5 p.m. If it is the LEA's intent for certain administrations of interim assessments not to have scores sent to CERS, no action is needed, and the responses will be cleared as scheduled.
Hand scoring for the interim assessments is a local responsibility. Please note that, for the Smarter Balanced Interim Comprehensive Assessments (ICAs), hand scoring for both parts of the ICA—the computer-based test and the performance task—must be completed and submitted to generate results in CERS.
The 2024–25 CAASPP and ELPAC Interim Assessments will become available at 8 a.m. on August 6, 2024.
