2024–25 TOMS User Role Transition and Interim Assessments Updates
Email Update, May 9, 2024
Dear LEA CAASPP Coordinator or LEA ELPAC Coordinator:
TOMS will transition to the 2024–25 administration year for all user roles during the system downtime from Friday, June 28, 2024, at 5 p.m. to Wednesday, July 3, at 8 a.m. Coordinators will receive an additional communication with details about the transition to the 2024–25 test administration year.
For CAASPP users, this TOMS transition date is earlier than in prior years. However, the 2023–24 interim assessments for English language arts/literacy (ELA), mathematics, CAST, and ELPAC will remain available until August 2, 2024. Users who administer or score interim assessments after July 3 will require a 2024–25 TOMS user role. Therefore, LEA coordinators should assign new user roles for any staff using the interim assessments as soon as possible after July 3, 2024.
The 2024–25 interim assessments will become available on August 6, 2024, at 8 a.m. Please keep in mind the following:
- During the system downtime that begins on August 2, student responses for the interim assessments will be cleared from the Teacher Hand Scoring System (THSS) and will no longer be available for hand scoring. To ensure that student results from all completed 2023–24 interim assessments appear in the California Educator Reporting System (CERS), all outstanding hand scoring must be completed in the THSS prior to the system downtime on August 2, 2024, at 5 p.m.
- Student groups created in CERS—including assigned and custom groups— during the 2023–24 administration year, will remain available until 5 p.m. on August 1, 2024. After systems resume at 8 a.m. on August 6, 2024, new CERS groups will need to be created for users administering 2024–25 interim assessments.
