Dear California Educator:
Registration is now open for the Interim Assessment Hand Scoring Summer Workshop Series! This free and engaging professional learning opportunity is sponsored by the California Department of Education and consists of online workshops designed to introduce you to and build your confidence in completing the required hand scoring for the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) interim assessments.
Interim Assessment Hand Scoring Summer Workshop Series
The Interim Assessment Hand Scoring Summer Workshop Series includes five independent online workshops, each focused on a specific content area. Participants can select the workshop(s) in their preferred content area(s) where they will learn the hand scoring process and unique hand scoring considerations for the selected content area(s).
In each two-hour online workshop, participants will engage with tools and resources available for local hand scoring. Throughout the workshop, participants will have opportunities to actively engage in conversations with colleagues about the instructional implications of the CAASPP and ELPAC interim assessments as well as consider different ways their use can help to support various classroom needs.
Note that the hand scoring workshop series will not be recorded or posted because it includes the use of secure materials. If you cannot attend one of the live hand scoring workshops, you may consider engaging with the On-Demand Hand Scoring Learning Modules,which are available in each content area for use year-round.

- Time: 9 to 11 a.m.
Workshop 4b: Interim Assessment Hand Scoring—ELPAC Writing
- Date: Wednesday, July 29, 2026
- Time: 9 to 11 a.m.
