CAA for ELA Second Scoring

Every year, a subset of schools will be required to participate in second scoring. This page reflects second scoring assignments for the 2024–25 administration of the California Alternate Assessment (CAA) for English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA). Starting with the 2024–25 test administration, grades three through five will no longer need second scoring.

Second scoring is the process of having another training test examiner or Test Administrator score the same student's rubric-scored items simultaneously, yet independently, from the student's primary test examiner. For more information and resources about second scoring, visit the Form Assignments, Second Scoring, and RSVP web page.

LEA coordinators that have school sites selected for second scoring will receive emails notifying them of the requirement, but schools can also find assignments using the search tool on this page. If your school does not show up in the search, your school does not need to complete second scoring.
